本系成立於民國四十七年，五十八年本系成立研究所，招收碩士班學生，八十年成立博士班，是全國最早成立碩士班及博士班之會計學系。本系以研究學術、培育人才、提昇文化、服務社會、促進國家發展為成立宗旨，期使學生能符合當前社會之需要。
