民國47年本校在政治學系下設「人事行政組」，民國51年改名為「公共行政組」。民國52年正式從政治系獨立成為公共行政學系，民國53年研究所碩士班正式招生，並於民國78年成立博士班。民國84年，配合大學法施行，公共行政學系與研究所合一，統稱公共行政學系。

The DPA is the first public-administration specialized university department in Taiwan. It now offers bachelor’s, master’s and PhD degree programs. Over 300 students are now enrolled in the three programs.
