The article introduces the issues of A. P. Chekhov`s plays vision in the modern theatre. A great variety of Chekhov`s plays staging versions is connected to innovations of the playwright who created new laws of stage business performing, new ways of characters` interaction, and new principles of dramatic character creation at the turn of the XIX–XX centuries. А brief review of Chaika’s various genre versions makes one come to conclusion – the modern theatre art takes into account not only classical playwright`s original text as an intertextual model but his dramatic principles as well. The analysis of the recent Chaika’s staging in The Aleksandrinsky Theatre (Saint-Petersburg, 2007, the director Christian Lupa, The Golden Mask, 2009) lets us suppose the new play`s plot to evolve at the stage – the plot based on wanderings searching for "the world soul" being usual dream of the universe harmony. The problem of the classical writer`s works actualization is being raised within the anniversary dispute. Anniversary celebrations focus audience`s attention on the author`s personality, his individual style and concept, offer fresh look to the text having been classical for such a long time, allow the audience to create their own space of the plays of Chekhov. The thesis proving anniversary dispute`s originality is being proved due to the fact of concentrated perception of diverse cultural information for relatively short period of time as well as opportunity of its structuring taking into account individual tastes and intentions was proposed. The critical analysis of three anniversary premiere plays by A. P. Chekhov`s Dyadya Vanya has been given as the basis of the thesis.
