題名: Step in and out of the dreams: Toward an immersive and interactive virtual experience of dreams
摘要: This paper introduces the design of a creative work, using wearable and virtual reality technology, which can provide immersive and interactive dreaming experience simultaneously to a group of people. The design concept has been put into practice in the creative work: \"Step In and Out of the Dreams\". Also, we briefly introduce the WISE platform, a full-stack wearable hardware and software infrastructure developed by our team that facilitates this work.

Motivations for game-playing on mobile devices - Using smartphone as an example

題名: Motivations for game-playing on mobile devices - Using smartphone as an example
摘要: Motivations for game playing have always been an important topic for research. Through understanding these motivations, game manufacturers develop games based on specific demand. The smartphone combines different technology and sensors which causes the motivation for game playing to become more complicated. The goal of this study is to discover the reason for game playing on smartphones through understanding both the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations of the motivation theories. Furthermore, it hopes to determine which motivation has a deeper impact on players in general. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

The localization of praxis-oriented research: Creating service design applications

題名: The localization of praxis-oriented research: Creating service design applications
摘要: In this study, a mobile application development course was implemented from the perspective of technology, so that all of the inexperienced students who took the course were eventually able to independently develop a mobile application with their team to present their learning effects. The course structure was based on the service learning theory. The teacher led the students in performing field research and interacting with local residents, stores, and government agencies, so that the students could design a localized mobile application service based on the background and problems that they encountered. The core value of the study is to reach the goal of `digital empowerment` of newer users, by training `digital natives` who will most likely in the future design applications for `digital immigrants`. According to the result, users were more willing to use the mobile applications proposed in the course based on the service learning theory, and they found learning more enjoyable. The focus of this study was on a coherent teaching method incorporating both practical and theoretical aspects, to assist students in learning to create localized mobile application services of higher adhesion for every user.

HearMe: Assisting the visually impaired to record vibrant moments of everyday life

題名: HearMe: Assisting the visually impaired to record vibrant moments of everyday life
摘要: The auditory sense is the primary channel for the visually impaired to experience the world around them. Typically they use various recording devices, such as tape recorders and digital voice recorders, to record what they`d like to keep. In recent years, touch-screen technology with dynamic interface and portability has become an alternative for visually impaired users. However, very few recording applications are tailored for their use. In this study, we interviewed twelve visually impaired people to investigate their behaviors and needs. Based upon the data gained therefrom, we have concluded design considerations and present HearMe, a touch-based application to assist the visually impaired for recording sounds during everyday life. © 2014 ACM.
