As China`s economic reform deepens and the Chinese market becomes more liberalized, trade between the United States and mainland China, particularly in the area of US. exports to China, will continue to expand. This paper argues that the prospects of growing trade between the United States and China represent enormous opportunities for Taiwanese firms, given the unique strengths that Taiwanese firms possess. This argument is made first by reviewing US. government programs and company practices in the area of trade with China. Then, specific opportunities and strategies for Taiwanese firms to form alliances with US. firms in exploring the market in mainland China are discussed.
