摘要: For more than a decade mainland China`s People`s Liberation Army (PLA) has been modernizing by procuring new weapons systems and altering organizational doctrines and training. Military leaders in China indicate that they will abandon their traditional strategies designed to defeat invaders who cross their borders. Instead, China ought to be able to fight and win a war fought anywhere within a thousand-mile radius. The modernization of the PLA appears to be aimed at deterring an intervention by the United States into a war between the mainland and Taiwan.
