Abstract: | In this chapter, the history of Taiwanese Internet development will be discussed surrounding its distinctive BBS (bulletin board system) culture, which witnessed the founding of Taiwanese Internet networks in the 1980s and 1990s, accompanied its growth in the 2000s, and played significant roles in the recent social movements in Taiwan (roughly after 2008). |
