Fieldwork is key to geological practice on Earth, as well as ground truth key to Remote sensing data validation. Extraterrestrial fieldwork shares the needs of its terrestrial counterpart with additional challenges due to the harsh, demanding and remote nature of Solar System bodies. The various types of experiments, typically used in planetary exploration are described, with applications examples. The basic steps on sample characterisation and integration of orbital data are included.en_US
