Making a comprehensive survey of the study effect, adaptation of life, and attitude of self-identification, this research-based on data on over a hundred of Taiwanese students-probes into the current study situation of Taiwanese students who attend courses at universities and in graduate schools in Mainland China. The research suggests that the number of Taiwanese students studying in Mainland China has increased. The students do not have significant difficulty in terms of their study, and also have a high opinion of the schools they attend in Mainland China. In regard to everyday life, Taiwanese students normally reguire a bit of time to adapt themselves to the local lifestyle. Most plan different leisure activities, inciuding traveling and sports in their free teme and occasionally gather together to prevent themselves from feeling homesick. Their biggest difficulty lies in such areas as adapting to the cultural background, reduced speed of information flow, different values, use of simplified characters, and health care issues. In terms self-identy, most Taiwanese students ignore even the pressure by the Chinese government regarding reunification. Being college students (or above), are they mature, independent, and not easily brainwashed or influenced by external effects. Although the majority of Taiwanese students do not tend to declare their own political position, it does not imply that they all dislike political activities. Some devote themselves to political activities after returning to Taiwan, and quite a few Taiwanese political figures or their children have gone to Mainland China to receive an advanced education.
