Abstract

阮甘納桑是世界圖書館學名著圖書館學五律與冒號分類法的著者，他的成就卓越，被印度前總統譽之為「印度圖書館學之父」。 本文旨在對阮氏的生平與志事作一簡略的介紹與評估，包括其主要著作，在圖書館學方面的成就，專業活動，獲得獎勵與譽銜，以及對印度及世界圖書館事業的貢獻。

The author of the ”Five Laws of Library Science,” the ”Colon Classification,” and many other important works on librarianship, S.R. Ranganathan was honored by former Indian President V. V. Giri as ”the Father of Library Science in India.”This article attempts to provide a brief biographical sketch about his life, professional career, major professional works, achievements in library education, offices and honors, and his contributions to world librarianship in general and to Indian librarianship in particular.
