用方法說故事：議題框架分析方法綜探

Abstract

本文整理議題設定與框架相關文獻，將重點放在對媒體議題及公眾議題之分析方法與工具。為了探討不同工具在媒體議題與公眾議題分析中的適用性，本文使用詞頻分析、詞語共現分析、情感分析工具以及質性框架分析法，對同樣資料進行分析，發現不同分析工具確實能夠為研究者帶來不同之洞見。本文認為，當我們同時使用電腦運算工具與質性文本分析方法時，不同方法所得出的結果實際存在相互的辯證與補充關係，電腦運算工具除了幫助研究者過濾資料外，也能打破研究者可能囿於既有概念的預設，由下而上地提供新的洞見；而質性文本分析結果則可幫助研究者在清洗資料以及分析資料時能夠同時留意文本的深層意義，幫助研究者正確地解讀電腦運作工具所分析出的結果。在進行真正的大數據分析前，藉由這樣的辯證過程一步步釐清研究架構與假設，或許能夠幫助研究者在後續分析時省下許多功夫。

In this study, we review the literatures of agenda setting research and framing research. We focus on their research methods and the analysis tools they use. In order to inquire into the use of different analysis tools on the study of media/public issue, this article introduces three analysis tools, frequency analysis tool, co-occurrence analysis tool, sentiment analysis tool, along with qualitative frame analysis method. We find that different analysis tools tell different stories. We think if researchers can take into consideration the results of different tools, they will be able to devise a more comprehensive research structure. Therefore, this article suggests researchers to use multiple tools on their data during the pilot study.
