In order to investigate the trend of literature, knowledge structure and emerging issues in organizational citizenship behavior research, this study used bibliometric analysis to explore literature sources from Scopus and the Taiwan Humanities and Social Sciences Citation Index database (TCI-HSS). Organizational Citizenship Behavior, extra-role behavior, education*, school or teacher were used as subject terms for the search, and the search was restricted to the categories of Article and Review. The final search results included literature published between 1983 and 2021 in Scopus (2,666 articles) and between 2001 and 2020 in TCI-HSS (77 articles). The study used VOSviewer and CiteSpace bibliographic software as analysis tools, applying cluster analysis and mapping techniques to visualize the literature and map scientific knowledge by analyzing country, institution and author citations, co-citation analysis of authors, literature and journals, and keyword co-occurrence analysis. The study also analyzed the overall development of research on organizational citizenship behavior, and the trends of its hotspots whilst speculating on its frontiers.\nThe results of the study reveals that organizational citizenship research is strongly influenced by the United States, China and the United Kingdom and academically propelled by the University of Haifa in Israel, Indiana University Bloomington and Michigan State University as key research institutions. The Journal of Applied Psychology is the leading and authoritative journal for the study of organizational citizenship behavior. Some of the highly cited authors are Dennis W. Organ, Philip Michael Podsakoff, Scott Bradley MacKenzie, Robert H. Moorman and Linn Van Dyne. The two valid clusters analyzed in the literature were Definition of the concept of organizational citizenship behavior, antecedents and consequences, development of constructs and scales and research methods and Redefinition of the constructs of organizational citizenship behavior, complete review of social exchange theory, evaluation of structural equation models and proposed remedies for common methodological biases in behavioral research as the fundamental knowledge of organizational citizenship behavior research. The research hotspots shows the high frequency keywords are: job satisfaction, organizational commitment, leader-member exchange theory, transformational leadership, and organizational justice, and five valid clusters are highlighted in the keyword co-occurrence analysis: organizational citizenship behavior, psychological empowerment, organizational characteristics, turnover intentions and employee attitudes. The literature by Koopman et al. (2016) has continually appeared since 2016 with the article exploring the light and dark sides of organizational citizenship behavior: the investigations into the benefits and costs of helping others being one of the research frontiers; the six highly emergent keywords of quantitative, corporate social responsibility, work engagement, environmentally oriented organizational citizenship behavior, psychological capital and engagement are also among the research frontiers.\nHinging upon the findings of the current research, specific recommendations are provided for educators as reference in enhancing knowledge with respect to school administration and future research.
