dc.description.abstractBased on the Theory of New Institutionalism, this article intends to analyze the functions of, and interactions among, the three top decision-making bodies the Politburo, its Standing Committee, and the Secretariat within the Communist Party of China (CPC). This article also tries to gauge the degree of systemization of these decision-making bodies based on the CPC`s organizational principle, democratic centralism, and further to assess the role and power of the general secretary in steering the CPC`s top leadership in Chinese politics.en_US
