Abstract: Summarizes five articles in this volume criticizing political scientist Samuel Huntington's concept of the "clash of civilizations," an analytical model for understanding post-Cold War international relations that Huntington popularized in his publications during 1993-96. Huntington's paradigm failed to adequately address cooperative aspects of global politics, used the concept of "civilizations" as an inappropriate independent variable, and was imprecise in the definition of the term.
