China`s Border Policies toward Central Asia since 1991 are revealing indicators of the growth of Chinese power and the expansion of Chinese objectives with regard to the region. As China has grown more powerful, its interest in acquiring more land in Central Asia and in altering the borders to meet its new interests has also increased. The goal of this article is to call attention to and explain this trend in China`s border policy toward Central Asia since 2000. © Institute of International Relations, National Chengchi University, Taipei, Taiwan (ROC).
