Abstract

In the 21st century, human civilization is mostly influenced by theses two information revolutions of 20th century. The second information revolution based on digitalization especially assembled the global digital revolutions of the multi-media, multi-language, multi-culture, and multi-layer channel. The human beings need to accept and receive new information to solve problems, improve and strengthen life. The six knowledge institutions including libraries, museums, archives, galleries, cultural museums, and memorials are provided with the function of social memory; they could be called “knowledge-related institutions in the one”. It will be significant to social development if we try to explore, practice, and execute the methods of integrating and sharing the resources within these knowledge-related institutions. Meta-library is one of the achievements or the results after the knowledge-relation institutions going through these two information revolutions. Based on the developmental experience of meta-library, these knowledge institutions such as museums, archives, galleries, cultural museums, and memorials could be integrated into a specific giant effect. The essential lesson of the knowledge-related institutions is “knowledge management” The knowledge-related institutions should recognize and possess of the concepts of knowledge management and system development both in national and international level. It is particularly important to approach the international development for fear of being isolated in this global village age.
