III. 派生動詞「~化スル」在動貌(aspect)意義上表示事象變化的持績進行。
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the Japanese change-of-state sentences with regard to its tense, aspect and modality. First, it has been discovered that the Japanese verb "naru" can express, in addition to the prototypical meaning of "change-of-state", a propositional attitude of the speaker. Next, it has also concluded that the sentence patterns "(X wa/ga)Y(Noun)to/ni naru" "(X wa/ga)Y (Noun) to/ni narimasu" and "(X wa/ga)Y (Noun)to/ni natteiru "have essentially the same meaning as the copula sentence "X wa/ga Ydearu", that three sentence patterns express different propositional attitudes of the speaker. and that the derivational suffix "~kasuru" denotes not only the aspectual meaning of the change of a state but also that of the continuity of the resultant state.
