Animals matter to humans not only when they are alive, even after death, can also be reproduced in people's life. There is a long history of complex interactions between humans and animals, that has materialized level, but also the level of psychology. In this study, I would like to trace the cultural history of taxidermy in modern Taiwan, to analyze their social context, explore the concept of the value of animal lives, in particular with regard to nature. The taxidermy history in modern Taiwan can be traced back in the second half of the 19th century, while foreign explorers, missionaries, diplomats gathered in as naturalists to do the scientific journals. It was popular after the 20th century during the Japanese rule, taxidermy is widely used in fairs, museums, schools and zoos. In 1960s, Taiwan specimen manufacturing peaked, due to the large number of taxidermy collection and commercialization. Wildlife was greatly affected, serious impact found on the environment. This study observes the relevant aspects of their academic history, politics, culture, education, commodity economy, environmental impact and the like.
