| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | 有鑑於科普相關新聞與議題日漸普遍，人民的生活中面臨了愈來愈多的抉擇，舉凡美國牛肉進口、全球暖化對策、面對災難的態度、黑心食品的危害等等，都考驗著大眾的智慧。人們的決定，不僅影響個人的心理感受，更攸關政府政策的制訂，以及新科技、商品的發展趨勢，因此，瞭解影響個人態度形成的關鍵因素可謂刻不容緩。過去文獻顯示，「價值觀」與「媒體」是影響民眾態度最重要的兩樣因素，因此本計畫雙管齊下，不僅欲瞭解哪些文化價值觀扮演重要角色，也欲瞭解媒體如何報導科普議題，畢竟媒體是一般民眾獲得消息的主要管道。「價值觀」部分，本研究將蒐集國內外現有的相關民調資料，做跨文化分析，以彌補現階段科普研究主要著重「個人認知因素」之不足；「媒體內容」部分，本研究將匯集國內熟稔各外語的人才，進行第一手的內容分析，不僅可將台灣的狀況有系統性地呈現，更可和國外資料相比較，以賦予研究結果更有力的解釋。 | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | With the prevalence of scientific issues in daily life, such as the adequacy of importing American beef, global warming, handling disasters, and adulterated food products, people are facing more and more challenges every day. People’s attitudes toward these issues affect not only personal feelings but also policy-making. It is, therefore, imperative to understand what shapes public opinion toward scientific issues. Drawing on previous literature suggesting the importance of “values” and “media coverage,” this study aims to explore (1) which cultural values matter in the process of public decision-making and (2) the nature of media coverage on which people base their attitudes. In terms of cultural values, this study will collect relevant public opinion datasets and conduct comparative research. This hopefully will bridge the gap in extant research on public understanding of science, which dedicates most of its effort to cognitive and individual-level factors. As for media coverage, this study will gather first-hand data by recruiting researchers familiar with foreign language. This approach will not only help collect data of our own, but will enable us to interpret the results in Taiwan with those in other cultures. | en_US |
