Abstract

雞蛋─一種適用於所有消費者的廉價且具營養豐富的食物。自2022年11月以來，由於全球性的禽流感影響，包括台灣在內，雞蛋價格上漲，供應也受到限制。台灣人開始就雞蛋短缺的原因和可能的解決方案展開討論。\n\n台灣農業委員會（TWCOA）最初向國人表示，過去三年的雞蛋短缺是由於氣候變化和日夜溫差所致。直到2023年2月，台灣每天缺蛋200萬顆雞蛋的最嚴重階段，農委會始得承認雞蛋短缺的主要原因是禽流感。農委會在本紀錄片中承認因為某種原因，他們不想那麼早向公眾披露事實。\n\n這部長30分鐘的紀錄片，拍攝時間長達8個月，一直緊隨來自國立中興大學動物科學系教授陳洵一，為觀眾呈現了雞蛋短缺危機的另一視角，包括其原因和影響、專家們向政府發出警告的所作出的努力，以及對禽流感疫苗有效性之相關探討。\n\n在這部紀錄片中，將看到陳洵一教授在蛋荒發生之前，曾向農委會作出多次警告。他建議農委會，應該盡快對每隻雞隻施打禽流感疫苗，因為他認為此舉是最快對抗禽流感的方法。然而，農委會並沒有對他的立場表示贊同或支持，經進一步調查後發現，\n陳洵一與農委會在2013年至2020年期間，8年間一直維持緊密的合作關係，但到了2020年，也就是缺蛋的第一年，在不知何故的情況之下，農委會就停止所有對陳洵一發放的研究項目補助。陳洵一在他的職業生涯中堅持不懈，他繼續與其他動物科學和獸醫學的專家參加不同的會議，以尋求對抗禽流感的最佳方法。可惜的是，在最近的一個禽流感專家會議上，他甚至被農委會從專家名單中除名，以致無法列席會議。\n\n除此以外，為了向觀眾呈現了更廣泛的全球觀點，本紀錄片也提到多國已獲准使用疫苗對抗禽流感，同時通過國外研究報告、論文，向觀眾展示國外使用禽流感疫苗施打在雞隻上成功的經驗。

Eggs are a low-cost and wholesome meal that is available to all customers. Since November 2022, because of the avian flu that affected the whole world, including Taiwan, egg prices have increased, and supplies are limited. People started debating the reasons behind Taiwan`s egg shortage as well as possible solutions.\n\nThe Council of Agriculture Taiwan (TWCOA) first informed the Taiwanese that the three-year egg shortages were caused by climate change and the difference in temperature between day and night. Until February 2023, the TWCOA began claiming that the primary reason for the egg scarcity was avian flu which is the most problematic phase where Taiwan was lacking more than 2 million eggs per day. TWCOA admitted in the documentary that, for some reason, they did not want to inform the public of the facts so soon.\n\nA 30-minute documentary film used eight months to complete. Follows Dr. Chen Shun-I from the Animal Science Department at National Chung Hsing University to give audiences a different perspective on the egg shortage crisis, including its causes and effects, the efforts of experts to alert the government, and the effectiveness of the avian flu vaccine.\n\nDr. Chen Shun-I sent multiple warnings to the TWCOA prior to the accident. He advised that the fastest method to combat the avian flu is to vaccinate every chicken. The TWCOA, however, did not applaud or endorse his stance. In fact, it was discovered that the TWCOA discontinued a few funds for research projects that he had been working on with them from 2013 to 2020, a period of eight years, with no reason. Dr. Chen Shun-I persisted; during his career, he continued to attend conferences and consult with other professors who were experts in animal science and veterinary medicine on the best ways to fight the avian flu. Unfortunately, he failed. Even in the most recent meeting, he was removed from the roster of experts.\n\nThe documentary illustrates that other countries have been allowed to utilize vaccines to combat avian flu to provide audiences with a broader view of the world. Audiences are also expected to watch a medical report, thesis, and experiment to receive the successful experience delivered by foreign scholars.
