This paper explores the possibility of doing dynamic analysis on the important issue of changing ethnic identities in Taiwan in the absence of genuine panel data. Despite the exploratory nature and methodological emphasis of this paper, we do hope that the pseudo panel approach to repeated cross-sectional (RCS) data explained here can shed some light on the process and determinants of the gradual rising trend of Taiwanese identity in the past decade. We also hope that this approach provides a feasible alternative to studying the dynamic process in the absence of repeated measurements of the same units.en_US
