| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | Scholars rely on Chinese aid projects to Africa to demonstrate the former’s kindness towards the latter, but the picture changes when we investigate the assistance to Africans living on the Chinese mainland. By focusing on the African students’ hunger strike in Beijing in 1962, this paper revisits images of Africa in Chinese history, studies how Chinese attitudes toward Africa have evolved with policies and capitalism since 1949, and reanalyzes the Sino-African brotherhood that Chinese officials and scholars highly praise. | - |
