| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | Mainland China`s many social contradictions indicate that the Stalinist system has gone wrong. If the political structure, the heart of the system, remains untouched, there will be no danger of immediate collapse, but the crises arising from the system will also remain unsolved. In addition, the lack of thorough reform will also give rise to new problems.The key to political restructuring will be redefining the nature and status of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). If relations between the Party and the people are not properly handled, an inefficient legal system, corruption and embezzlement, and other moral problems will be difficult to solve. This article reviews the theories and practices Beijing has adopted in political restructuring. The suggestions of mainland Chinese intellectuals from 1986-89 have been significant, but in the wake of the June Fourth Tiananmen massacre, they have failed to produce a restructuring formula. | |
