| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | As a scheme for rhetorical effect, diazeugma is more than a short-cut in expression and a balancing mechanism; it can also involve subtle narrative focalization in fiction. Then the transfer of English diazeugma and its focalizing effect into Chinese is also examined. It is demonstrated that, in fictional translation, casual alteration of the structure of diazeugma can lead to damadge or deformation of the stylistic effect, especially the subtle shift of focalization created by the scheme. | |
