題名 數學運算能力個人差異的基礎之研究─記憶更新能力對運算能力的影響

摘要 個人數學計算能力的優劣,除影響其數學成就外,也會影響未來生涯職場的選擇與收入(Butterworth, 2010; Gross, Hudson, & Price, 2009)。過去研究發現一般性領域能力,如工作記憶中的記憶更新能力,會影響運算能力的表現。本計畫即針對原有記憶更新作業,設計了三種不同內容的記憶更新作業進行施測,以確認是甚麼成分對心算乘法有所幫助。結果顯示,原始記憶更新與空間記憶更新能力,兩者皆對心算乘法有顯著相關,特別是針對越困難的乘法題目。因此,本研究支持工作記憶能力,特別是運算式處理,對個人計算能力扮演了重要角色。 The calculating ability of individual not only inserts effects into mathematical attainment, but also influences the career choices and incomes in the future (Butterworth, 2010; Gross et al., 2009). Previous researches found the domain-general ability, e.g. the memory updating ability of working memory, could affect calculating performances. Thus in this study, we modified memory updating task employed in our previous study into three kinds of new memory updating tasks with different content to confirm which component is much more critical to mental multiplication. The results showed significant correlations between both original and spatial memory updating abilities to mental multiplication, especially the more difficult multiplication problems. Our findings supported the working memory capacity, especially the operational processing, plays a critical role in calculating ability.
