摘要 本篇論文結合Shapiro and Stiglitz (1984)與Melitz (2003)探討貿易自由化對臺灣實質工資與失業率的影響。本模型可能存在多個均衡，此時均衡之位置取決於生產者對未來經濟景氣預期的好壞。當模型出現多個均衡時，政府會有政策介入的空間。政府除了透過最低工資政策提升全民福祉，也可以透過補貼政策提升生產者對未來景氣的預期，進而提升全民福利。本模型在貿易自由化後皆會出現兩個均衡，當生產者預期未來景氣轉好，均衡越有可能處於高實質工資與低失業率的狀態。
The purpose of the study is to find out the influence of trade liberalization on real wage and unemployment rate in Taiwan. Our paper develops a new model that merges Shapiro and Stiglitz (1984) with Melitz (2003). The result of the study is that there are more than one equilibrium in our model, and that the decision of the equilibrium depends on the suppliers’ expectation of future economy. There will also be more than one equilibrium after the trade liberalization so the influence of trade liberalization on real wage and unemployment rate is not clear. It was found that when the suppliers expect the economy will prosper, the equilibrium is more likely to move toward the status of higher real wage and lower unemployment rate. Government can implement minimum wage and subsidy policy to impact suppliers’ expectation and improve people’s welfare.
