dc.description.abstract (摘要) | This study applies structural contingency and institutional perspective to investigate the relationships between corporate governance and high- performance work system (HPWS) that can arguably corporate governance mechanism significantly influences a firm`s business strategy and decisions such as the implementation of HPWS. Our data were collected from both subjective and objective means which are surveys and public database, of Taiwanese manufacturing establishments. We divided the proxies for corporate governance mechanisms into board characteristics such as board size and percent of independent members, and equity structure which is separated into family and foreign shareholdings. Results showed that the successful implementation of HPWS is determined by the effects of the corporate governance mechanism. Foreign shareholding and board size positively affect the motivation and ability of firms to adopt HPWS. However, family shareholding had no significant influence on the implementation of HPWS in the study as same as independent director. | en_US |
