With rapid development of internet technology and transportation system, the transmission speed of new information among different ethnic groups and countries has increased significantly. However, this also further intensify the competition in the business environment Without barriers to protect company’s innovative ideas, these ideas would be spread to the society rife with copies amongst competitors. Therefore, companies are eager to improve not only the quantity but also the quality of innovations. By doing so, it will help them to gain excess profits and following establish leadership in the industry.
Design Thinking (DT), which is promoted by world-renowned design company IDEO, is a concept that has been widely used in corporate innovation practice in recent years. This concept is closely related to another managerial issue called “Knowledge Management (KM)” because knowledge must flow among the participants during the process of DT. As a result, this thesis obtains two main topics:(1) To explore the interaction between Design Thinking and Knowledge Management. (2) To find out how the interaction will affect innovation.
This paper not only collects cases of corporations that use design thinking as a method of innovation but also interviews some people who used to participate in design thinking event to understand their real perceptions. To have a deeper look into the interaction, the thesis disassembles DT & KM into three major processes and analyzes the interactions among the three process stages.
After analyzing the data, the study has two main conclusions:
(1). DT has positive impact on “Knowledge Acquisition” and “ Knowledge Sharing” because it can help the innovative process to be more structural and improve the culture of sharing in company. And it also makes participants more willing to use their knowledge due to DT’s lower the cost of using knowledge.
(2). DT has positive impact on incremental innovation instead of disruptive innovation.

Design Thinking (DT), which is promoted by world-renowned design company IDEO, is a concept that has been widely used in corporate innovation practice in recent years. And it also makes participants more willing to use their knowledge due to DT’s lower the cost of using knowledge.
(2). DT has positive impact on incremental innovation instead of disruptive innovation.
