題名 The effect of smartphone-based mindfulness intervention on passion in smartphone use and creativity mindset

摘要 This study aimed at examining a smartphone-based mindfulness intervention effect on college students’ changes of passion in smartphone use and creativity mindset. Participants were 84 college students. Two instrument were employed: the Inventory of Passion towards Smart Phones measured four types of passion: Harmonious-intrapersonal passion, Harmonious-interpersonal passion, Obsessive-intrapersonal passion, and Obsessive-interpersonal passion. Creativity Mindset Inventory measured four types of creativity mindset: growth-internal control, growth-external control, fixed-internal control, and fixed-external control. A one-week experiment was employed, in which participants were requested to use their smartphones to freely take photos and share the photos with imaginative narratives on a designated website. The results suggest that the employed intervention that emphasize mindfulness, self-determination, and knowledge sharing online can significantly enhance college student’s growth-internal mindset, harmonious intrapersonal passion, and harmonious interpersonal passion. In addition, the intervention has a marginally significant effect on decreasing fixed-internal and fixed-external mindsets.
