How does the school environment shape gender? How is the school environment related to cross-gender relationships when it comes to teenage girls? Using data through interviews of Taiwanese high school girls attending single-sex and coeducational institutions, this research shows how different school environments relate to girls’ gender performance and interpersonal skills in relationships with male peers. I find that girls in the all-girls’ school less frequently share stereotypical gender roles beliefs, and perceive themselves as being uncomfortable about approaching boys. Girls attending the coeducational school, on the other hand, were strongly affected by gender stereotypes, and perceived themselves as having better cross-gender interpersonal skills than their peers in the all-girls’ school. These findings are discussed in relation to performativity theory.參考文獻 Ai, Xiaoxia. "Creativity and Academic Achievement: An Investigation of Gender Differences."
