摘要 蔣重躍2013 年〈古代中國人關於事物本體的發現:「稽」字的哲學之旅〉是近年關於韓非道論的 力作,此文將關鍵擺在「稽」字,是至為正確的做法。可是蔣重躍的解釋不合於韓非的原文,因此不 能令人滿意。 我們根據現代工具書《故訓匯纂》可以查出「稽」字的所有詞義,再審酌韓非關於「道之情」的 說法,提出道可能是無,而「稽」字採用合、同義,可以讀通韓非關於道、物、理的相關原文。 韓非以無為道,成為其修養論與統御術的基礎,道與德、氣的關係也可因此而說明得更清楚。
Jiang Chongyuei restudied Han Fei’s idea of the Dao by focusing on the keyword 稽 that was present in most classical Chinese texts and employed with critical importance by Han Fei. Despite the right approach, his interpretation does not fit into Han Fei’s texts, thus should be deemed as a failure. All the ancient glossaries of the word 稽 can be found in the 《故訓匯纂》. After carefully considering Han Fei’s formulations of “the reality of the Dao,” I propose that Dao is nothingness. Furthermore, if the word 稽 is glossed as to match, or to combine, then his texts concerning the relationship among Dao, things, and principles can make sense. The Dao as nothingness is the foundation of Han Fei’s theory of self-cultivation and controlling the ministers. The relationship among the Dao, De, and Qi can be elucidated better when we know that the Dao is nothingness.
