SummaryThis study presents an enhanced artificial intelligence chatbot (EAIC) that integrates the capabilities of ChatGPT and Rasa Open Source to assist teachers in guiding numerous students to promote autonomous learning performance in the virtual 3D chemistry laboratory concurrently. This study found that a virtual 3D chemistry laboratory with an EAIC could benefit learning satisfaction than without an EAIC. However, there were no significant differences in learning effectiveness. Encouragingly, the EAIC could provide good performance regarding ongoing conversation, ease of understanding, offering an appropriate amount of information, and high response speed. However, it was suggested to improve context tracking, accuracy, and dialogue clarity during conversational processes.
