摘要 This study investigates how public libraries contribute to place-making by integrating local history, information access, and lifelong learning, using the Tainan Public Library in Taiwan as a representative case. Grounded in place-making theory, the research examines how spatial design, institutional services, and community-oriented programming collectively create dynamic environments that preserve cultural heritage, foster civic engagement, and support inclusive knowledge sharing. Using qualitative methods, this study shows how Tainan Library functions as a hybrid civic space, highlighting public libraries’ evolving role as cultural anchors and platforms for engagement and knowledge sharing.
