In the proto Min final system proposed by Norman (1981), he reconstructed the main vowel of the Dàng Shè cognates as *o. From the perspective of phonological correspondence and comparison of Min dialects, this article reexamines and revises the proto forms of Dàng Shè cognates. Based on the phonological correspondence between Central Min and Northern Min and the exception pronunciation of the cognate "liăng" in Eastern Min and Southern Min, the article suggests that the main vowel of Dàng Shè cognates in proto Min can be reconstructed as a low and rounded vowel: /ɒ/. Moreover, following further comparisons of proto Min and proto Chù-qú Wu, the article points out that the main vowel of Jiāng-dōng dialect during the Six Dynasties can also be reconstructed as /ɒ/ (including two variants [ɒ] and [ɑ]). The contrast between Grade Ⅰ Táng rhyme and Grade Ⅲ Yáng rhyme in Dàng Shè is *-ɒŋ and *-jɑŋ. This could be the phonetic reason why the distinction between Táng and Yáng lay in Qie Yun system.
