| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | 本研究試圖藉美國國家檔案局中，美國駐新加坡領事館的資料，研究李光耀與美國的關係。其時間從1954年人民行動黨建立開始，至1966年美國大使館建立為止。申請人將探討為何美國與李光耀的關係持續對抗，又為何在獨立後迅速合作。檢視美國與李光耀關係的同時，也有助於瞭解這段時期學界有關新加坡政治的辯論。 | |
| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | This research intends to utilize documents of American Consulate in Singapore, currently hold in the US National Archives, to study Lee Kuan Yew’s relationship with the US between 1954, when the People’s Action Party was created, and 1966, when the US embassy was established in Singapore. The applicant will examine why Lee continually ran into conflict with the US, and why he cooperated with the US soon after Singapore became independent. By reviewing Lee Kuan Yew-US relations, this research will also help to understand scholarly debates regarding Singapore’s politics during this period. | |
