This study explores the construction of political "heroes" under the framework of contemporary media logic. Using chen shih-chung, the commander during the covid-19 pandemic, as a case study, this research employs analysis of topic model networks (ANTMN) to examine news media coverage from 2020 to 2022. The findings reveal that by maximizing the personal traits and emotional expressions of political leaders, the media facilitates a transition from bureaucratic roles to symbolic "heroes" of order, a process characterized by de-institutionalization. While this heroic narrative provides psychological solace to society during the initial stages of a crisis, it simultaneously evolves into a form of affective capital for political figures, ultimately weakening the capacity for rational accountability regarding policy failures. Furthermore, this research delineates the evolution of media coverage—ranging from highly personalized news to the establishment of emotional bonds through parasocial interaction, and finally to the transformation of "heroic" fame into consumable symbols or electoral leverage. This study concludes that as media logic permeates the political sphere, the news media and the political arena work in tandem to transform "heroic" reputation into a liquid form of symbolic capital.

zh_TW
dc.description.abstract (摘要) This study explores the construction of political "heroes" under the framework of contemporary media logic. This study concludes that as media logic permeates the political sphere, the news media and the political arena work in tandem to transform "heroic" reputation into a liquid form of symbolic capital.en_US
