摘要 Zolpidem is a common sleep medication, but its cardiac safety was previously unclear. This study used Taiwan’s national database to analyze over 450 000 individuals and found that zolpidem use is associated with a nearly 2-fold increase in the risk of arrhythmia, particularly fast heartbeats like atrial flutter and paroxysmal tachycardia. These findings suggest that patients and doctors should carefully weigh the cardiac risks before starting treatment, and those with existing heart conditions may benefit from regular heart monitoring while using this medication to ensure overall safety.
