| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | This special issue brings together a collection of studies focused on granular meanings and examines how small linguistic units and fine-grained semantic distinctions contribute to the construction and interpretation of meaning. Rather than focusing on broad lexical categories, the contributions investigate morphemes, affixes, phraseological patterns, and subtle semantic contrasts across a range of linguistic contexts and languages. The studies show that meaning emerges through patterned usage and recurring associations across multiple levels of linguistic organization. Drawing on diverse corpora and analytical frameworks, the articles reveal systematic relationships between local semantic choices and broader discourse, cognitive, and communicative patterns. These studies enhance our understanding of how language represents and organizes human experience. At a time when advances in artificial intelligence have transformed the scale and efficiency of corpus collection and processing, these studies underscore the continuing importance of linguistic expertise in interpreting nuanced semantic patterns. Through corpus-informed investigations of morphemes, constructions, collocations, discourse practices, and learner meaning-making, the studies in this collection advance our understanding of semantic representation and conceptualization. They also demonstrate how granular analysis can inform research and practice across language education, translation, discourse analysis, and digital communication. | |
