Today, a number of countries worldwide have put efforts to promote cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in order to foster the economic power. In Taiwan, in the past few years, the role of cultural intermediaries or so-called cultural brokers of CCIs has been an important topic. In terms of market and economy, brokerage refers to providing services between cultural productions and consumptions, such as museums, galleries and curators; from the perspective of cultural governance, brokerage refers to organizations act between the government, private sectors and individuals, such as foundations and associations. However, the discussions on this topic remain on the role of cultural intermediaries or brokers in the society, which mainly from the perspective of cultural governance, rather than market or economic discussions. From management perspective, the competitive advantage comes from bridging different knowledge gaps in order to make profits and sustain. Whether in the management or cultural and creative industries, the importance of intermediaries is beyond doubt. Since CCIs has been developed under the knowledge economy, there is a need to explore knowledge brokering in CCIs. However, how do knowledge brokers of the CCIs transform or combine different knowledge and produce new one in this flow still lacks of investigations. Thus, this project aims to understand “how knowledge brokers of CCIs perform knowledge brokerage practices and synthesis knowledge. Museums have been recognized as knowledge institutions and this study will take museum as a field to explore knowledge brokerage process. The knowledge brokers in museums include educator, researcher, curator and guides; in addition, there are also some brokers such as docents, tour guide and independent curators who work outside the museum but also act as knowledge brokers. This research employs qualitative research methods to collect, analyze and interpret data, in order to have a broader understanding of knowledge brokerage practice in CCIs . The proposed research outcomes will broaden the theoretical discussions of the CCIs, knowledge brokering as well as knowledge management. Furthermore, the research findings will make contribution to the practice of cultural and creative industries and related cultural policies. dc.description.abstract (摘要) Today, a number of countries worldwide have put efforts to promote cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in order to foster the economic power.
