| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | 多元族群文化互動反應語言的動態性，而語言動態性往往展現在詞彙語素共現構式之擴充及其語意延伸，本研究剖析頗具代表客家族群意象的兩個詞彙〈客家〉及〈硬頸〉，在臺灣報紙中使用的詞彙共現構式形式及語意面向，特別是有關詞彙語意變化之隱喻及轉喻在報紙文本中浮現的語意，及其所再現之臺灣社會文化之價值判斷。
本文聚焦於報紙文本，主要是報紙報導社會文化脈絡中最迅速最為人群關切的資訊，使得報紙文本在語言文字表達上充滿文化意象之隱喻及轉喻，提供研究隱喻及轉喻極佳之研究素材；本計畫第一年試圖分析客語詞彙〈客家〉及〈硬頸〉，擬利用臺灣報紙資料庫《聯合知識庫》《知識贏家》《自由新聞網》《客家電子報》近10年之全文文本，檢視這兩個隱喻語素使用情形，就構式形式、隱喻及轉喻分別做量化及質化的分析，剖析其中之語意、概念、及社會文化脈絡下之語言使用情感及態度，第二年以第一年的分析基礎進一步剖析〈客家〉及〈硬頸〉的使用在報紙文本如何能及為何能形成溝通之認知連貫性。
本研究之主要貢獻有二：其一能呈現語言形式如何在社會文化脈絡下再現語意及功能，並展現情感及態度，此結果能協助我們瞭解臺灣客家族群與其他族群之互動演變及族群界線之面貌，其二能凸顯理解語言的隱喻及轉喻過程中，文化框架如何形塑隱喻及轉喻之使用發展，強調文化扮演之角色，進一步深化隱喻及轉喻理論內涵。 | |
| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | The interaction of ethnic groups and multiple cultures in Taiwan leads to linguistic dynamicity, which often manifests in expansions of lexical-constructional collocations and semantic extensions. This study aims to investigate the lexical-constructional collocations and semantic facets of two representative lexemes of the Hakka ethnic group used in newspapers--<Hakka> and <stick neck>—profiling particularly their emergence of metonymy and metaphor in the newspaper genres and their representation of social-cultural evaluations of Taiwan society.
This study focuses on the newspaper texts mainly because newspaper reports the most concerned issues rapidly in a social-cultural context and the texts are often rich in usages of metonymic and metaphoric expressions, providing excellent materials for metonymy and metaphor research. Furthermore, newspapers play an important role in the developments and expansions of metaphors and metonymies as they are often used or re-used for expressive purpose to catch readers’ eyes. The research materials for this project come from the recent 10 year online news database from Knowledge Management Winner, Udndata, Liberty Times Net, and Hakka Online Newspaper. In the first year, the goal is to examine the usages of the two metaphoremes, analyzing their lexical-constructional collocations and their metonymic and metaphoric patterns together with the evaluations and attitudes associated with them. Based on the findings of the first year, the goal of the second year is to examine how and why such usages can contribute to the cognitive coherence of the newspaper texts.
Through empirical investigation of the complexity and richness of the metonymy and metaphor associated with the two lexemes--<Hakka>, and <stiff neck>--in newspaper genres, this study has two main contributions: to show how linguistic meanings, together with their evaluations and attitudes, emerge in a particular social-cultural context, helping us to understand the interactive patterns and ethnic boundaries in Taiwan, and to profile the importance of specific discourse situation in the development of the meanings and functions of metonymy and metaphor, hence bringing both theoretical and empirical insights into cognitive-linguistic paradigm of metonymy and metaphor. | |
