| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | This article analyzes the geopolitical ramifications of the mid-May 2026 “Trump-Xi Summit” on U.S.-China relations, East Asian stability, and cross-strait dynamics. It argues that the summit represents a tactical, domestically driven truce to regroup following the initial friction of the “Trump 2.0” era. Facing a critical economic transition and the upcoming 21st National Congress, Beijing sought a stable external environment through “constructive strategic stability”. Conversely, Trump aimed to bolster his party’s prospects in the November midterm elections by securing tangible trade concessions. While this transactional compromise established temporary “guardrails”, it has profoundly disrupted East Asia by driving a tighter China-Russia-North Korea alignment, fueling severe strategic anxiety in Japan, and fracturing the status quo on Taiwan through a tactical U.S. retreat. Ultimately, this strategic equilibrium remains inherently fragile, highly vulnerable to U.S. election outcomes and shifting major-power dynamics. | - |
