| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | This study investigates the perceptual identification of Korean stop codas (/p, t, k/) by Mandarin speakers in Taiwan, focusing on preceding vowel context and learning experience. Motivated by reports that these learners often produce Korean unreleased codas with audible release, a four-alternative coda identification task was conducted with 30 learners (17 beginners, 13 intermediate learners). Results showed an accuracy hierarchy of /p/ > /t/ > /k/. Vowel context shaped accuracy and confusion patterns: /p/ was best identified after /i/ and /u/, /t/ was best identified after /a/, /t/ was often misperceived as /k/ after non-front vowels (/a, u/), and /k/ showed vowel-dependent confusions. Proficiency group did not significantly affect accuracy, indicating no reliable beginner-intermediate difference in the present sample and task. These findings suggest the need for targeted perceptual training that integrates vowel context and unreleased coda contrasts in Korean teaching. | |
