Summary	This paper is an editorial guide for the second special issue on Computational Intelligence in economics and finance, which is a continuation of the special issue of Information Sciences, Vol. 170, No. 1. This second issue appears as a part of the outcome from the 3rd International Workshop on Computational Intelligence in Economics and Finance, which was held in Cary, North Carolina, September 26–30, 2003. This paper offers some main highlights of this event, with a particular emphasis on some of the observed progress made in this research field, and a brief introduction to the papers included in this special issue.
