摘要 本文研究了不同國家在不同所得的情況下，該國國內人口聚集的差異程度對於該國經濟成長是否帶來了不同的影響。在橫斷面的分析部分採用了普通最小平方法，在長期追蹤資料的部分則是採用了系統性動差法去估計。本文利用了都市化人口比例來衡量人口集中在都市的程度以及等級規模係數來衡量都市間人口多寡的差異程度。而本文的實證結果支持了Williamson假說：人口聚集只有在一國的開發程度達到某一個門檻之前才會對經濟產生助益，而這一個門檻根據本文的估計為人均所得為7100美元的時候。而另外本文的結果也得到了愈貧窮的國家，都市間人口發展愈不均衡的話將會帶來不利的影響。
