Summary | In this chapter, we review the use of the idea of collaborative computational intelligence in economics. We examine two kinds of collaboration: first, the collaboration within the realm of computational intelligence, and, second, the collaboration beyond the realm of it. These two forms of collaboration have had a significant impact upon the current state of economics. First, they enhance and enrich the heterogeneous-agent research paradigm in economics, alternatively known as agent-based economics. Second, they help integrate the use of human agents and software agents in various forms, which in turn has tied together agent-based economics and experimental economics. The marriage of the two points out the future of economic research. Third, various hybridizations of the CI tools facilitate the development of more comprehensive treatments of the economic and financial uncertainties in terms of both their quantitative and qualitative aspects. |
