| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | Within the analytical framework of General Systems Theory and by use of the methods of documental analysis, questionnaire survey and indepth interviews, this study aims to explore or changes, problems and challenges of joumalism education in mainland China between 1976 and 2000. The findings of the study reveal that joumalism education in mainland China still falls far short of the economic changes, of the media reality, and of the people`s expectations. The backwardness manifests itself particularly in the educational philosophy. It is argued that further reforms of joumalism education are urgently called for. For the reforms to be successful, joumalism education in mainland China needs to shake off the still tight political yoke and overcome the problems left over by the old system and practice. | |
