| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | 本文英文提要"Australia as Known to Chinese in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries"曾於一九七一年一九七日，在澳大利亞首都坎培拉(Canberra)舉行的第二十八屆國際東方學者大會(XXVIIIth International Congress of Orientalists)中宣讀，引起很多與會代表的注意和熱烈的討論。哥倫比亞大學退休教授富路特(Luther Carrington Goodrich)告訴我不列顛博物院藏有一具明末中國製的地球儀，上面或許也有資料可供我參考云云。返美後，他即來函，略謂：一九六二年六月出版的不列顛博物院季刊二十五卷三至四期(The British Museum Quarterly vol.XXV, nos 3-4)載有Helen M．Wallis和E.D.Grinstead 二人合撰的「一六二三年製的一架中國地球儀」(A Chinese Terrestrial Globe A.D. 1623)一文。經向中央研究院傅斯年圖書館借得該誌。大會中宣讀論文僅限十五分至二十分鐘，因此我加以重寫。對富路特教授的指示，謹致衷心的謝意。 | |
