| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | 就現代中國思想而論，以「當代新儒學」為標誌的儒學發展，曾經展現重大的思想成就，影響迄今。當代新儒學的思想使命，在於中國現代化的追求，其哲學論述，志在會通儒學與西方近代啟蒙傳統以下的現代性思維，使中國儒學傳統能與時推移，融入民主、科學等現代世界的主流價值與制度建構之中。然而，隨著時序進入後現代，西方亦出現針對這些現代性思維的反省，諸如後現代主義、女性主義、多元文化論等思潮，其對以自由主義為代表的現代性思維之批判，每能切中其弊，讓吾人更能深入評估其長短得失之所在。當代新儒學與自由主義立基於普遍理性的建構，強調普遍性；相較之下，這些後現代思維則著眼於對普遍理性的解構，強調差異性。本計畫將分別透過後現代主義、女性主義與多元文化論的視角，探討當代新儒學如何面對後現代思維的挑戰，並在彼此的對話中反思儒學的回應之道。當代新儒學研究一向重視與西方思潮的對話，惟對於西方晚近蓬勃發展的後現代思潮之可能激盪，迄今仍缺乏相關研究，本計畫希望多少能彌補此一研究空缺；再則，本計畫希望透過儒學與後現代思維的對話，以另一角度重新檢視、評估近年來儒學與現代性的研究成果；最後，本計畫除了探討當代新儒學面對後現代思維的激盪，使儒學研究與時俱進之外，也希望能進為當代儒學研究開發新的研究議題，此一工作對於未來的儒學研究應有其重要意義。 | - |
| dc.description.abstract (摘要) | In term of modern Chinese philosophy, admittedly, “contemporary neo-Confucianism＂ is one of the most important mainstreams in modern China. The main goal of the new Confucians is to reconcile Confucianism with Western modern values, such as liberal democracy, science, etc. and then attempt to reconstruct the new Confucian discourse which combines Confucianism with modern values and institutions. But unfortunately, if we return to examine the Western modern values and institutions, we could realize that they actually confront with many serious challenges in the postmodern era. Some rising thoughts in postmodern era, such as postmodernism, feminism and multiculturalism possess the common characteristics which are based on the criticism of the deficiencies of modern liberal thinking. In contrast with the modern liberal thinking which emphasizes the concept of “universality＂ based on the construction of universal reason, the postmodern thinking criticizes the hegemony of reason and stresses the concept of “difference＂ based on the deconstruction of universal reason. In this project, I would focus on the challenges and responses of contemporary neo-Confucianism when it confronts with postmodernism, feminism and multiculturalism. It would be helpful for the studies of dialogue between Confucianism and postmodern thinking, and the clarification and re-estimation of the issues between Confucianism and modernity from a postmodern perspective. And I believe, it would be also significant for raising the new philosophical issues for the further studies of contemporary neo-Confucianism in the Chinese-speaking world. | - |
