雙主修或輔系能提高人文及藝術領域大學畢業生在就業市場的優勢嗎？傾向分數倒數加權迴歸調整法的應用

Abstract

本研究利用串接臺灣教育長期追蹤資料庫及後續調查所組成的樣本，分析主修為人文及藝術領域的大學畢業生取得雙主修或輔系畢業後3年內在職場上的表現。本研究使用多元邏輯式迴歸分析影響主修為人文及藝術領域的大學生取得雙主修或是輔系資格的主要原因，發現父親的教育程度以及家長最高的職業聲望對學生取得雙主修或輔系有顯著的影響；大學生在高三下學期的綜合分析能力也能對學生取得輔系有顯著的影響。使用傾向分數倒數加權迴歸調整法對多個處遇效果的平均實驗效果進行估計，在控制自我選擇導致的估計誤差後，本研究發現人文及藝術領域的大學畢業生在人文及藝術領域或社科及商管領域完成雙主修或輔系，畢業3年內的主要薪資以及工作與專長相關程度均沒有顯著地高於同領域單一主修的大學畢業生。

This study used Taiwan Education Panel Study and Beyond to examine the impact of having a double major or minor on the performance of humanity and arts college graduates in the labor market. Multinomial logistic regression was employed to predict the probability of having a double major or minor. The results showed that father’s education and parents’ occupational status were strongly related to having either a double major or minor. The comprehensive ability of students can significantly predict college students’ graduation with a minor as well. Inverse probability weighting with regression adjustment was subsequently used to estimate the average treatment effect on treated with multi-level treatment. After controlling for self-selection, the results suggested that for college students with the first major in humanity and arts, having a double major or minor in the field of humanity and arts or in the field of social science and business upon their graduation did not improve their economic positions in the labor market. Within three years after college graduation, there were no significant differences among graduates with a double major, a minor, and a single major in the monthly salary in their primary jobs and the degree of relevance between their college majors and occupations.
