摘要 Since the introduction of the Ðổi Mới reform policy in 1986, Vietnam has been pursuing economic development policies through the market opening. In particular, Vietnam signed the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) with the United States in 2001, joined the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2007, and signed a free trade agreement (FTA) with neighboring East Asian countries. In addition, the legal and institutional devices have been developed and developed to supplement the scarce domestic capital. As a result, not only did Vietnam achieve a high annual growth rate of 6.83% per year between 1990 and 2017, but per capita income rose five times during this period.
Korea and Vietnam maintain a special and close relationship both historically and economically. The Korean government`s dispatch of the Vietnam War in the 1960s~1970s has contributed greatly to the recovery and growth of the Korean economy. Since the normalization of diplomatic relations between Korea and Vietnam in 1992, Korea`s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has increased. As a result, Vietnam has grown into an important trade and investment partner in Korea and is expected to grow into an important cooperation partner in various fields in the future.
In the past, Korean companies` entry into the overseas market was centered on the Chinese market. However, recently, China has abolished the exception for foreign companies by raising the corporation tax rate and strengthening the union rights for foreign companies. Therefore, the importance of the Vietnamese market is increasing rapidly to replace China. In this paper, we analyze the business situation of Korean companies in Vietnam through case studies of Korean manufacturing companies and financial companies in Vietnam and draw up management strategies to help Korean companies to present mid to long-term management strategies in the Vietnamese market.
